An account of the author's yacht voyage of 1837 in the company of Robert Meiklam, whom he served as medical attendant. Information was collected relative to the climate of the places visited so as to advise invalids on the suitability of certain destinations. It is the author's opinion that the climate of Madeira and the Canaries was most suitable for convalescence. Contents of Vol I - Accounts of Corunna, Lisbon, Madeira, Teneriffe, Gibraltar, Algiers, Sicily, Egypt, + Appendix. Vol II - viii, 495 pp. Frontispiece, & 17 illustrations (of which 2 are maps & 1 double plate. Contents Vol II - Egypt, Asia Minor, Syria, Palestine, Jerusalem, Palestine, Greece, + Appendix. Bound in matching maroon cloth boards with gilt lettering on spines. Blindstamp decoration on boards. Split of about 3 inches at top of internal front hinge of Vol II, otherwise bindings tight. Texts mostly clean. Front and bottom edges untrimmed. Boards much faded. Overall condition VG. |
